Breton Children's Music

Good Morning,

I know that all over the world, mothers (and fathers too) sing to their children…

Do you, or anyone, know of a source – CD, cassette, books – for Breton children’s music?  In a few months, I will begin teaching music classes for young children, and I want to incorporate music from all around the world, to include Breizh.

I know music can be enjoyed by all ages, but I am especially looking for songs similar to « ainsi font » or « sur le pont » … songs specifically for babies/children up to about 6 years of age.

Thanks very much!

~Laura

Hello,

many years ago, Kristen Nogues (sadly dead one year ago) did a record for children; I think Yves Ribis did something also with a woman. Perhaps is there a way to find them through Coop-Breizh or Keltia-Musique or L’Oz-Productions.
Myself, I just played (not sang) a lullaby called « Luskellerezh » (on « Harpes du Nouvel Age ») also called « Kouskit buan ma bihan ». You could use it as a …Karaoke, I could try to send you the lyrics. I think I have played another one with a singeres;
Perhaps should you write these titles on Google. You could add « Toutouig lala va mabig », or « Toutouik… ». Or « Koad Kêr-Yann ‘zo delioù faou ».
Something else in my own part:
I wrote a song for a son called « ‘Raok Mont d’ar Skol » on my album « Terre des Vivants » . We have remasterized that album. It is distributed through Harmonia Mundi. Another one is « Da Ewan » on « Before Landing » more difficult to find.

Best,
alan

Hi Alan,

Thank you so much for your reply. I have written these titles down and have already found some great information.

I had forgotten « Raok Mont d’ar Skol » and « Da Ewan ». These songs are also on ZOOM, which I have at my house.  « Raok Mont d’ar Skol » is actually one of my favorite songs of yours. I sing a -very- loose English translation to my daughter (4 yrs old) in the mornings before school. One day she surprised me and sang back a response. We have a lot of fun with it!

Thank you again, I sincerely appreciate your time.
