I just found out about artist called Alan Stivell and I have to say that he is ver, very good. Got few song which I especially love and I have spent hours to look for a transaltion from Breton to English for this specific song called Suite Sudarmoricaine.
Now I’m asking from you other forums users and Alan Stivell fans and Alan Stivell himself (didn’t know that he is also using the forums 
) to help me understand what those lyrics mean?
Perhaps will we find some time to give you the translation, but the main thing in it is the joke to sing this in Breton together with some mystical or other things, this on the main popular French radios: quite a student’s joke.
As Alan said, it’s better to listen, and only listen, the song. Sometimes it’s not a good idea to want to know what there is behind… 😉
I suppose Alan has heard this song in a pub of Spezet a long times ago…

There are in fact two « suite Sudarmoricaine ». The first one can be found on the LP/CD « A l’Olympia » and was introduced in the first songbook of Alan with this comment : »gallic humoured song, written in breton by a friend who wants to stay anonymous ». That’s a comment which sounds very much tongue-in-cheek, because
the lyrics are about a guy who goes to a « Pardon », has sex with a girl and catches a veneral disease, following what he has to see a doctor…Nothing really esoteric or mystical in that story. The other Suite in the one recorded on « Back to Breizh » in french, and is concerned with what peoples might wonder about the will of speaking the breton langage. I personaly believe that it is a good thing to know what a song means, even if the music is catching…Alan what definitely right to say about « la Suite »: « quite a student’s joke », when you think it became a hit in the 1971/72 charts , and probably a handfull of folks knew its meaning …
yes, a kind of student’s joke indeed…
Let’s remember that, a couple of years before, a majority of Breton speakers was still ashamed to be Breton speakers. Now they were laughing at the non-Breton speakers who could not understand this French charts’ n°1 song (!)
