RE: OBAMA

I am proud that this election was fought on ideas and not on race, but I am also proud to see how his win has uplifted so many people, and changed their perceptions in such a profound way. I hope Americans can come together now and begin healing after so many years of partisanship and division, and in the World as well.  Hope and Change were campaign slogans, but now you can feel the difference in the air here, a slogan has somehow become real.  It is difficult to explain.  The real work will begin on January 20, and I think at last, people are ready.

There is definitely some vibes beyond the ocean with this election. I agree with Alan, Obama will not solve everything, but at least he brings back hope. I think the reputation of U.S under Bush was a disaster. Now, we have to be realistic: he will face some tough challenges, but can we imagine in France, a President with a dark skin? My partner who was in this country this week said that according to a survey, french people would say OK to a black president, but not to one from the Magrebh…It’s a long way to go!!!
