J’ai écouté cette chanson sur le CD Celtica – Magie des ballades celtes.
Cette chanson me touche tant que j’aimerai en comprendre les paroles ou avoir un résumé de celles-ci.
Je n’ose pas dire le nombre de fois que je l’ai écoutée, et chaque fois avec l’impression de me retrouver en Bretagne en plein vent face à la mer avec une sensation d’attente et d’espoir.

Je ne pourrai vous donner cette traduction de l’Irlandais rapidement car je suis en (trop) plein boulot. Avant ça, peut-être que quelqu’un vous la donnera.
Le texte est bizarrement (mais la « bizarrerie » est une spécialité celtique) pas vraiment en adéquation avec la poésie de la musique.

C’est la traduction anglaise, mais je pense qu’elle est fidele au texte gaelique de O Riada…A moins qu’Alan ne nous en revele plus!
sur la musique du film Barry Lyndon des Chieftains il existe une très belle version instrumentale de ce morceau célèbre
Oui Henri, c’est bien la traduction. Donc pas très romantique…
J’ai beaucoup aimé la version des Pré-Chiefains avec Sean O’ Se et Sean O’Riada. C’est en leur hommage que je l’ai chanté bien des années après (pour des raisons que je pourrais développer plus tard).
Mike Oldfield a lui aussi repris ce beau morceau en instrumental sur son album « Voyager » en 1996
